Apple Pie Recipe
With colder nights right around the corner, you may want to hold on to this recipe for a couple more weeks – homemade apple pie. Nothing beats apple pie, especially with fall right around the corner. Here’s a recipe to help make you enjoy it as easily as possible:
Ingredients:
- 1 Box of Pie Crusts (just to make it a bit easier, Pillsbury makes good ones)
- 6 cups of apples, peeled and then thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 1/8 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
- 3/4 cup of sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
Steps:
- Pre-Heat your oven to 425 Degrees Fahrenheit
- Take one of your pie crusts and drop it into a 9″ glass pie dish (ungreased), making sure to press it firmly against the sides and bottom.
- In a large bowl, gently mix the rest of the ingredients (except any extra pie crusts).
- Once it’s mixed well, gently add it to the pie dish.
- Add the second pie crust on the top, using your fingers to press the edges together so it’s sealed well.
- Use a knife to make slits in the top of the pie.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes total – About halfway through, pull it out and put some 1″-2″ strips of tin foil around the edges to prevent burning, then put it back in for the remaining time.
- Cool on a cooling rack for around 2 hours before eating. If you like it warm, maybe cool a little less, but make sure to be careful so you don’t get burned!
- Serve with vanilla ice cream (optional, but really the best way to eat apple pie).
